The last two races were succesfull for us. We won 2 x 1st in our club, and also in big competition we had early prizes.
On April 27th we had a race from Quievrain. The predicted weather was so bad, that we only entered our hens. So in this race we participated with 12 pigeons.
With a tailwind the pigeons came back at a high speed, the winning bird flew 113 kms/hour. Our first bird won the 1st in club (215 pigeons) and the 14th vs 4,482 pigeons in our combine. From our 12 entered birds, 6 won prize of which 4 in the first 10%. Especially with tailwinds, we were satisfied with the result (we are at one of the shortest distances in our combine). The winning bird was our first nominated bird NL18-1682483. She is a daughter to NL10-1404046 'Fidel', so a granddaughter to 'Roosje'.
Our NL18-1682483 'Nynthe' already won some nice prize cards: 1st Quievrain 215 p. (14th vs 4,512 p.), 6th NPO Nanteuil 5,215 p., 9th Péronne 1,556 p., 33rd Bierges 3,359 p., 20th Duffel 1,424 p. and so on. For her pedigree click here.
On May 4th we were lucky to have headwinds again, but also a lot of rain. The birds were liberated in Niergnies (250 kms) at 10 am. At 1.16 p.m. our first bird arrived. It was our NL18-5163574, a daughter to 'Hannibal' x 'Katja'. This bird got lost as a youngster and walked in at a daycare. She was very but she recovered. As a youngbird she went from St. Job (95 kms) to Duffel (115 kms) to Péronne (285 kms) were she won the 78th prize vs 1,556. A week later she won 4th NPO Nanteuil 5,215 pigeons. The moral of the story: not every pigeon that gets lost is a bad pigeon.
The overall result from Niergnies was very good. Against 224 pigeons we won: 1-3-4-5-9-17-18-22-39-30-38 etc (22 entered, 13 prize cards of which 8 x 1/10) and in our combine we won against 4,522 pigeons: 13-31-44-52-108 etc (22 entered, 13 prize cards of which 7 x 1/10)
NL18-5163574 'Nora' won already 4th NPO Nanteuil 5,215 p., 1st Niergnies 224 p. (13th vs 4,522 p.), 17th Duffel 430 p, 78th Péronne 1,556 p. and so on. For her pedigree click here.
