19/05/2026
During the final of the prestigious AS Golden Race Final on May 15th, we achieved another fantastic series of top positions against 830 pigeons in a tough 480 km final race:
5 - 9 - 19 - 21 - 27 - 39 - 59 - 67
A result we are obviously very happy with, especially considering the difficult conditions once again. The winner finished more than 44 minutes ahead of the pigeon in 3rd place. The winning pigeon clocked 1281 mpm, while from 3rd place onwards the speed dropped to around 1146 mpm. These kinds of hard races seem to suit our pigeons very well.
Consistent Results Over the Years
Our results in Greece over the years are becoming quite remarkable:
What makes it even more special is that in 2021 we entered the race for the first time with only five pigeons. All five reached the final, including the hen that won 9th prize.
Even more remarkable is the fact that we later bought this hen back, and she has now become the mother of the pigeon that won 9th prize again in this year’s final. Those are the moments that make pigeon sport truly special for us.
After our victory in 2024, the well-known Evert-Jan Eijerkamp jokingly called me “Mr Greece”. Of course, those are nice comments to hear, but in the end the performances of the pigeons are what matter most.
Strong Performances in Tough Races
What probably gives us the greatest satisfaction is that these results are not based on a single outstanding pigeon. Especially in difficult races, our pigeons seem to keep performing year after year.
A good example was the 2024 semi-final, flown at only 1207 mpm. In that race we managed to place seven pigeons in the first twenty positions. Our pigeon “Spartacus”, a grandson of foundation cock “Linus”, won both the semi-final and later the final itself. For us, that truly was a dream becoming reality.
This year we again see the same bloodlines returning at the top. Three of our first five arriving pigeons contain our super breeder Odar, originating from G. & S. Verkerk bloodlines.
Our first arrived pigeon in this final is bred from “Slavko”, winner of the 1st Extra Final AviRings 607 km in 2023 at 1160 mpm, paired to “Peke”, winner of 1st National Ruffec 760 km against 9,998 pigeons.
Why One Loft Race Results Matter
Within One Loft Racing, results like these probably carry even more value because every pigeon competes under exactly the same conditions. Loft location, daily management and race preparation are completely eliminated. In the end, it comes down purely to the quality of the pigeon and the strength of the bloodline.
We deliberately focus on only two OLR competitions: the AviRings Summer Race and the AS Golden Race yearling race. With a relatively small loft, it is simply impossible to compete everywhere. That is why we fully focus on the races that best suit the type of pigeons we believe in.
We are already looking forward to the next edition with great motivation.
