In 2023, the Avirings Ultimate 600 (Extra Final) was organized for the very first time.
Due to the unique natural conditions, the release point—Beclean in Romania—was not in line with the previous race directions. Located further south, this point required the pigeons to navigate through 130 km of dynamic, hilly terrain before reaching the flat and more familiar landscapes of Hungary.
Race day conditions were challenging: the morning temperature was a chilly 10–11°C, with no fog and a steady headwind of 5–8 km/h at an altitude of approximately 100 meters. The sun rose at 6:50 AM.
At exactly 16:28:22, after 8 hours and 43 minutes of flying, our pigeon NL23-9132019 "Slavko" crossed the finish line—achieving a speed of 1160 meters per minute and arriving a full 4 minutes ahead of the second pigeon!
We are incredibly proud of this achievement and even more thrilled to have been able to buy back "Slavko", a grandson of our foundation breeder "Linus", who carries 25% marathon bloodlines. A small cock with a perfect build and strong character—we firmly believe he will be a valuable asset in our breeding loft.
